Tried Googling it? Assuming you have a computer
It seems to be a scam and intrinsically not very harmful. Check out:

Good luck.

Google house call it's a free virus check and remove. You download a program dependant if you have 32 or 64 bit look in your system if your not sure. Then start it, I use it now and again it's good

This is definitely a topic for the lounge, but in the meantime:-
a) Google the virus and find an authentic looking website that tells you how to remove it.
b) get some decent Anti-Virus on your computer as soon as possible. AVG Free and Microsoft Security Essentials are free and adequate
c) avoid visiting 'questionable' websites and avoid installing freeware / shareware unless you're absolutely confident it's ok.

thanks for the constructive replies . To the forum policemen .....you really need to get out more

I hardly ever look at The Loungs and don't mind non-boat technical topics on here. There's plenty of room after all. My advice is to load AVG free and run a scan.

Agree with ghostlymoron re forums.......i use Avast which is pretty good free anti-virus software as well. If you're still able to access the net I had a similar problem and searching YouTube for a "how to" video to remove virus was simple and straightforward and easier than following "written" instructions...

If you know when the virus appeared, and you are not comfortable with changing system settings / using unknown programs then the easiset and quickest solution on a Windows PC is to use System restore.

So if it just appeared then go back 1 week and you should be up and running again. System restore doesn't change your files / documents - but likewise it doesn't protect you from getting the virus again - so get a good Anti Virus / Internet Security.

System Restore can be found in Accessories / System Tools

Thats Ok if you know how to back up, you have to set up your back up schedule, if you have not done this then you have no restore point.

any good anti virus is fine but is no good if you have the virus you need one that does a system scan, hence Housecall. Thats what is does it is not an anti virus its a virus checker, or spyware which is as bad. I run housecall weekly just to make sure. it easy the hardest bit is knowing if you are 32 or 64 bit to check go to control panel - system and security - then system and it will tell you about your computer. then go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/ and run a check.

Clyst,

With the best will in the world no antivirus software is perfect.

The best way to guarantee removing all malicious software is to backup your personal files (which you should have done frequently anyway) then format the HDD and reinstall the operating system and applications.

I have AVG protection but use the above method occasionally to ensure a "clean" PC.

The system makes restore points automatically, without user knowledge, especially with the install of software. Will need to run it in Safe Mode, but it may have been crippled by the virus.

Thanks Ostell - you got there before me

To repeat " The system makes restore points automatically, without user knowledge, especially with the install of software" - so you can go back a week, a fortnight or even sometimes 3 months.

And the great thing is it sets all the system registries back to what it was - which no "malicious program remover" can do automatically

System Restore costs you nothing and if it doesn't work can then restore again back totoday

ok please explain this!!

Just to add:
Windows backup and restore pertains to the data that you have added to the computer (or should). Restore restores that data.

System Restore is just that: it restores the System to how it was. It doesn't affect data

System Restore can be turned off, if you know where to look, but is on by default.

I see what you are saying but restore only goes back to a last situation, in my case on my computer that is 6 months old the last restore point is Dec 25th when I updated adobe, so if you are not a pc wiz and dont do much with it its not necessarily going to help. If you have a virus you wont know when you had it, and to the person who is not up on their pc skills to restore to an earlier point is not the automatic answer.

What Im saying we are going down a route of helping someone but restore is not the answer.
