Sods Law,

Just about to set of to Palma for a nice couple of weeks, so moved the boat to the fuel bay to fill up all OK went back to the berth all OK. Started up tonight just for a check over and starboard engine will not turn over???????????? I can just hear a click which I presume is a solonoid?????? the other engine starts fine so battery's good which are new anyway.

Could it be the starter motor jamed or starter motor Knaked??????

Any ideas quick the weathers great and need to get going before it turns.

Help help Please

Engine Volvo D4 260 hp

I've had this on mine - I'd suspect the slave solenoid first.

Can you get at it and 'jump' it? (Keep clear of the pulleys if you have to get into the engine bay for this - it should start!)

sounds like an evc/edc problem as both engines talk to each other through the evc, could just be a simple problem on the ignition switch.

Is the "click" from a small relay somewhere or the main solenoid which is piggy-backed on the starter motor.
If it's the main solenoid then it's possibly an internal problem with the motor. A possible reason is a brush not making proper contact with the commutator due to swelling of the commutator insulators. Sounds crude but a "swack" with a hammer can be enough to get things moving and solve the problem for good.
