Help for a French sailor

A French sailing friend asked me if I was familiar with Seagull outboards... I said 'no, why?'. He said that he has a long-shaft Seagull (he thinks 6 hp , can this be true?) which is u/s, and he would like to find somewhere to get parts.

Being ignorant of these things, I thought that Seagull's were out of manufacture years ago, but what do I know? But what I do know is that there is a deep pool of knowledge here - and if I am going to be able to help him, it will be because someone here feels charitable in this season of goodwill.

The following is the text of his email, excuse his errors, and I am going to try to bolt on the three photos he attached. I think he used a mobile phone to take them, hence not so super.

don't know what he means by the silencer?
exhaust is not fitted but maybe the block is cracked
that's why they need flushing in fresh water after sea use!
plenty of spares on the bay for these wonderful old motors...blocks a little harder to find
can he post a pic of the damage?

If we can get it down to Plymouth I will take it across to Brittany in the summer, or maybe a bit sooner.

I read that as cylinder, which would match the pics. (but a French wife may be an unfair advantage )

Well, thanks for the offer - redeems my faith in Scuttlebutt - I am taking mtb up on his offer and have now gone off-piste to pm country.
