I can't get my engine going it's a volvo Penta one cylinder. I have going through but will not go down the fuel pipe. Last one foot from the top of the engine. Anyone free to help. I am at hamble point Marine. 07926262796 or could use a tow to Eling to my moring and a lift back to my van in hamble. 07926262796

obviously you have had a go at the priming lever on side of lift pump, you could try also slightly loosening the fuel filter on engine so it just drips and using the prime handle on pump.

good point, put lever in ahead full, pull out the t handle for engine stop fully and then put gear lever back in neutral then just a qtr throttle.

hope this helps.

going off out now for a low tide walk so last post.

Dave

If its like my MD1, there's no lift pump, glow plug or stop lever. The engine is stopped by putting the throttle fully back. I've had trouble with fuel not getting through when the tank is low. All you can do is engage the cold start button, full throttle and crank. If it doesn't start, check fuel is getting to the injector.

If you have compression while the engine is being turned over, then the most likely problem is a lack of fuel - possibly caused by a damaged diaphragm in the lift pump.

Take the injector fuel supply pipe off, and pump with the manual lift pump. You should get a good squirt of fuel out of the pipe.

Not sure if your model has a decompression lever - early models did, but not on later models. If you have a decompression lever, put it into the decompress and turn the engine over - with the starting handle if you have one. Now put the compression lever to the run position, and now check that you have compression. If OK, then I would suspect the lift pump.

A friend had the same problem with a 2003T, and that was the lift pump diaphragm damaged. Cured with a new diaphragm (This type now obsolete).
I had a similar problem with my 2003 and that was low compression due to injector problems, burnt valve seats and worn piston rings. I had to remove the engine for an overhaul! New valves, seats and rings - and the injectors re-set.

I gave bleed the system three times fuel getting to the injector recharging the battery today changed filters new fuel

Strongly suggest what others have suggested :-

Particularly - Heat gun into air intake for some minutes. Also on cylinder head near injector . Throttle in full position with stop lever lifted AFTER you have set the throttle .

I have a Volvo 2001 and used this method today. 18 years winter experience of this engine.

Poor old fella with no glow plugs needs some help in the winter. Also, you could speak to it nicely too :)

The MD1B in my Tiger had a cold start button on the back of the engine. Could the OP confirm he is using this if one is fitted? It's was brass button with a spring round it if I recall accurately.

That's correct. I am afraid I cannot remember where you put the throttle, I would try it in various positions.
