Help - boat slip construction

We are looking to 'upgrade' our club slip. Does anyone have experience of slip/trolley construction or are there any 'design engineers' you could give me size and weigh data please. All constructive help much appreciated

What type of slip are you constructing? Is it for dinghys or is it for large boats? We need max length and weight of boat to be launched. Is it tidal, at seaside or on river? How many feet does it need to drop in what length?

is this an inland club? i sailed for a while at upper thames sc where we had a sinking slip. it would take your weight but when a wayfarer and trolley was pushed to the end it sank enough to float the boat off. we also had an electric winch for recovery.

at another club, pontoons were made by encasing big slabs of exp. polystyrene in concrete. worked fina and was v cheap.

Depending what sort of thing you're looking at I may be able to help- I've got a lab full of structural engineers who are always up for designing anything unusual (depending on how many female undergraduates are around - we're easily distracted!). PM me with details and I'll see if we can help.

What do you plan to use to pull boats up the ramp with, this will determine the size, remember that traction is not a always easy to get on a wet or slimy ramp even with a large tractor.

A winching system also has limitations, what do you plan on using?

<font color=blue>Just had one built. It cost £3,500 to be done professionally. They made a Coffer Dam, scraped inside of it with a digger to size, laid concrete on top of a iron wire mesh, the following day pulled out the dam and presto. They made it look easy and the whole job took 4 days. This was on the Thames.

We are also on the look out for information about refurbishing our existing slipway where the concrete is starting to breakup. There aren't any cracks in it but the surface is flaking away.
As the concrete isn't cracked I'm also needing to know how we could tie new concrete to the existing
It is on a tidal channel and runs from above high water down to about half tide after which there is only hardcore. Total length of the concrete is about 150m most of which is a gentle slope except near the top where it becomes steeper. For the first 30m its about 10m wide which acts as an apron from which the larger boats are floated off from then the rest is about 2.5m.
Any advise on methods or costs would be very welcome - we are a fairly poor club!
The slip is used for both dinghies and larger cruisers - up to about 12T and depending on the boat we use a quad, tractor or static electric winch.
