Re: Help! Any opinion on the boat welcome

Certainly not a Hillyard, nor a Folkboat, but Tumlare origin certainly. fascinating!

Definately not a tumlare, they were double ended. It could be of baltic origin but looks too small to be a meter boat. It could be a half rater or similar as she does look a bit elderly!
What are the dimensions?

Hillyards by comparison are short and dumpy - never had those long overhangs. Looks less then 30 ft LOA, but if it was it could be Dragon hull with a cruising cabin built over it?

I can see why you might think that but to me the stem is much too upright for a Dragon. It's hard to see from the photo what the aft end looks like.

My vote is for one of the many class-racing keelboats which populate The Solent, like the Sunbeam and Victory. I know that Victorys are clinker, but the others are carvel, aren't they? Once that 'orrible cabin is removed, you'd have a smart dayboat.
Peter.

Not Dragon, Victory or Sunbeam. Well cut away forefoot and slabbed up keel points towards manoverability and cheaper build.
Could be a Norfolk Broads boat. Shallow freeboard could be another clue, maybe German or Norweigian lake boat. The cabin has that sort of look too.
Whatever it is, the counter has dropped and she has lost her sheer. To rectify this its either a clever bit of rubbing strake and toe rail work, or to give the boat some resale value, deck off, frames out, re set the horn timber then reframe the counter. A fairly skilled job!

Seanick, Thanks for your comments. I am new to classics, therefore would appreciate more direct contact with you.

I have sent a message to you giving my E Mail and would appreciate a response so that I can discuss further, if OK with you
