Hi guys,
Just returned from visiting my boat in our local marina and found that the VHF Antenna on the stern has been damaged ( no one knows how ) and has been cracked a few inches up from the base. The coax cable inside seems fine and I was wondering if I filled the cracked area with two part epoxy would that affect the performance of the antenna? Is there any way to test the antenna prior to and subsequent to doing this repair? I will but another antenna if absolutely necessary but they are not cheap.
The antenna is a Pacific type and appears to be fibre glass and is about 1.75m from tip to bottom of screw on base. There is also a snake tongue type of thing inside which I cannot tell what it is, I have attached a couple of photos to help.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
