Helm Position

On my boat, the helm position downstairs is in a central position. There must be other boats with the same layout but all those I have been on have the helm either on the port or starboard.

Does anyone know of any others with a central helm in the salon as well as on the flybridge ?

On a Fleming the Flybridge helm is on the Port-side and the wheel-house helm is central.

When motorboaters go below, I believe it has different connotations altogether Sailorman. And what is 'wilmelm' - is it a sort of Heath Robinson autopilot ?

My last command...a 52ft Arun class lifeboat had helm position both below and up top in the central position...now thats the sort of boat you need...32tonne....485shp per side,45gall per hour,18kts in any conditions....and specially for you Pauline 7 crewmen!!!!! although to be fair nowadays could be crewpersons!!

Yes...had a very large bath...namely the Firth of Clyde....very invigorating, especially in January..I once tried it by accident!!!
