I need to replace my helm pod for something bigger that can house a new 7 inch instrument and the two existing st60's, scan strut appear to have one product but will require small mortgage to fund it. Any suggestions of supliers or uk manufacturers that do similar products. Ta

HE HE, another chance to show my one successful DIY project on the boat. Like you I resented paying oodles of beer tokens for a plastic moulding.

I had considered making a mould and contructing one but by the time i have bought to material and factored in time it probobly isnt worth it. Nice job, is it a electrical connection box behind screen and does it seal ?

Scanstrut pod on swivel base

I know the scanstrut are expensive but they do make a wonderful bit of kit.
Mine is setup with a swivel base that I can turn to any where I want which is quite handy when heeling/sitting to the side of the wheel.

I do think that having that swivel base looks very helpful. My own set up does make it difficult to view when sat to one side or for me to see the plotter when the other skipper is sat ( as she tends to do) bang in the middle, helming.

But how do you see where you are going?

I have a redundant one whose dimensions I can check out if you are interested. I think it is Scanstrut.

p.m. me.

I have done a similar but using a galley SS sink for a Raymarine E80 which is deep and deeper still with cables and plugs. It is a near perfect fit. It looks like - er a galley SS sink but it works extremely well, has rounded corners and came from Penguin. They arranged for one to be produced without the drain hole. Around £40 I think.
