Hello - I just wanted to say, I'm a lurker who has recently been shown the delights this forum. I have been told to introduce my self or be jumped on and flamed (what ever that is). Historically I am a rag and stick merchant but two years ago I got a Rinker Cuddy (horrible American thing) and last year got a real boat - a Fairline Traga 33 - called "Crunchie" (for that Friday feeling), sher's on private moorings on the Hamble. Wave if you see me.

I cannot comment on the current management led fight for this forum but it is rather amusing.

Robert.

Greetings, new kid. Grab a flame-thrower and get stuck in. And of course you can comment on the fight for control of this forum...just say the thing you think is most likely to send Kim or tcm off on one.

Re: Hello newbie!

BarryD, another poster hereabouts has also got a Rinker. His is a 25 Cruiser Impala Wideglide, or summink like that.

Excellent boatname: perhaps consider playing the them to "The Naked Gun" VERY loudly on exit and return to marina.

Flaming is "having a go at someone", and "getting flamed" is someone having a go at you. This is jolly relevant cos of course you sed in your post how your previous boat was a pile of shite, so er now whoever bort it (or barryD) may flame you, whilst we watch. Isn't this fun! Nearly as good as watching other people smash their boat on the pontoon...

Oh, and tellus why you bort a powerboat after having been a raggie.

Hi Robert - calm down TCM

Hello Robert, welcome to the forum (I promised not to post this week - but can't resist the chance to defend Rinkers). You will find that the majority of the forum members are highly opinionated, knowledgeable, enjoy a drink, and can party like good 'uns. Ignore the rules of operation / conduct at your peril as Kim holds the golden padlock and is quite happy to lock threads, delete posts and even edit them to ensure that the board stays boatally clean - actually he does a good job, but one shouldn't praise him too much.

Re: Rinkers horrible? Each to their own, mine is a 250 Fiesta Vee so it's a bit bigger than a cuddy but not a palatial as Targa 33. Apart from electrical and steering problems the hull is basically sound! Did your cuddy have a name?

Do tell why the switch from rags to oil? BTW I like the name of your boat.

Re: Look \'ere

New Forum Member - your implication is that because your Rinker is American all American boats are 'orrible. I have an American boat (in America) and I love her - well usually, but right now I can't get one engine to start so I'm just a little upset with her. I can't understand that obsession with polished wood and no living space on Euro-style boats;-). Form before function? Welcome to the madhouse!

Re: So there!

Nothing at all wrong with yank boats....cept that the only two known user therof hereabouts have got a busted engine and no steering between them, so neither of them work. Two microwave ovens tho, at least. But one of them wrong voltage...

Re: So there!

Oi you horrible lot- I'm a signed up member of the American petrol lake boat club. Under 30ft the Europeans can't touch them.(With the possible exception of the S24 0.5p per mile running costs, never breaks down boring, boring etc )

Mines not broken down this year ( Because i've not tried to start it)

Apologies

Arthur - I most certainly do not think all American boats are rubbish. The cuddy that I had was organised in a straight swap for my trailor sailer (a Westerly). It lacked the accomodation that I wanted but went well - it was tatty but as it was worth under three thousand pounds who is going to complain?

Why the switch from rags to oil? Time I guess and the desire for something new, also it extends the pleasure to others. There are few passengers on a sailing boat - you live in tight spaces unless you have a big boat - and then you are back to the crewing issue again. On Crunchie I can take my whole family out, my non sailing friends and I get the chance to ogle their wives in bathing costumes. GREAT.

Re: Apologies

Hi Arthur, I have just sold an American boat - a Tiara S2 Slickcraft 310sc. As far as I am aware it's was the only one here in the UK. I thought it was a great boat apart from the twin 5ltr petrols, worked great but cost a fortune in fuel. I had it converted to LPG , that helped a little.

Re: Robert Ogler

Robert welcome to the forum. Expect much noise from you! Crunchie is an excellent name, and excellent for upgrade because you can move on to "Aero" on a Sunseeker Xs, "All Gold" on a Pershing88 and "Ferretti Rocher" on erm never mind.

Disagree your last comment though. Sailing boats in Caribee much better for that, so I'm told. To prove this see frexample www.sailnude.com and www.nudesailingvacation.com

Re: No need for apologies

Robert - I was only kidding to test for a reaction, but not only from you. You'll get used to the forum's quirks if you have the stamina:)

Re: Robert Ogler

er well gosh . I saw Endless Summer in carb bvi, the year before but fairly sure they all had their kit on. Then this year saw a crew chap and sed was he on the boat and he sed no but looked at me sidewaysish, now explained...

Much prefer the nice ladies selling ice creams off their boats between Isles de lerins, topless. Sadly, there are ahalf a dozen blimming boats, some blokes, so rather expensive. Yes, I know I've had three ice creams already, I just fancy another, alright?
