It's a bit quiet for a Monday afternoon- are people settling into the gloom of SAD syndrome already and unable to pluck up the motivation to bother with the forum? I can just imagine all the S Butters rocking backwards and forwards in a catatonic state in front of the menu screen.

Just nod if you can here me.

Presumably all becoming comfortably numb???

Did you hear the Scissor Sisters' version BTW? Yuk

Hi. its a sad day up here in ork, i'v been derigging and demasting my boat, its been out of the water now for aweek. And yesterday we took amates boat out. That only leaves acouple of boats in the water as the others came out earler this month.
So its back to the dinghys if we want a sail in the winter.

Cheers

The new sail is a revelation, once I got around to actually being able to go out for a sail. The shape of this one made me realise how utterly bo**** the old one was. The boat was able to hold full rig to windward with 20-22knots true. It was F 5-6 in Torbay, but offshore, therefore flat water and so high sustained boat speeds and surges like I've never felt before- shame the log impeller is fouled up and I forgeot to clear it before going out.

As regards colour, it's off white, almost ivory in fact.

Nice photo this morning- definately scope for a career in catalogue modelling.

Regards

Alex

No, still here.

Suffering from SWS (sailing withdrawal) as we had to do social things this weekend and slightly miffed to have missed out on some good weather. Going out next weekend - which prob means crap weather.

Did manage a quick visit to put dehumid onboard, run up engine and heating. Cleared out fridge. Will do an oil change this week then all ready to go again. Noticed a bit of weed gathering round waterline.

That's the one. The Scissor sisters version of Comfortably Numb is different, but strangely good. The CD player on my boat would only play the first three songs from the album. Must say the live version from The Delicate Sound of Thunder is the best in my view.

Re: Funnily enough..

Do you have to pay for your weekends Chris? I get mine free. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif It's the boat that I have to work to pay for. Was it a good weekend- where were you sailing?

Re: Funnily enough..

Boat paid for, house not, hence working today.

Regarding sailing just Keyhaven to Poole return with a couple of chums from uni. You know the sort of thing:

bye dear hi chums, sail there, meal, drink, fall into bed, s,s&s, full English breakfast, sail home, bye chums hello dear, fall into bed.

Two high points of the weekend, ferocious hailstorm going through Poole hbr entrance and full English breakfast from Fisherman's cafe for £3.30 head inc coffee and toast, served by chappie with eyepatch (if he'd had a parrot on his shoulder I've have paid £6.60).

Your laminate sail sounds the biz, shame they don't make them in tan.

Re: Funnily enough..

I like the summary of your weekend- short and to the point- none of this long winded broad Forumish.

Relax - I need some information first - just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Were you the distant ship with smoke on the horizon last weekend?

Hardly dare admit this but I have been sailing today. Nice beat to Cowes on Sunday evening, and a choice of tables in The Folly Inn! A bit light today but sunny most of the time. Beat to get West of the Bramble Bank and then cruising chute from Calshot Bouy to Gilkicker. The kids school was closed for the day, and what is the point of being self employed if you can't slope off for the occasional day on the water.

Glad to hear about the new sail. I have a Kemps laminate genoa on order at the moment. Might have to keep the boat in the water a bit late if I am going to try it out this season.

Agree it was fabulous out there today. Could have done with 3-4 knots more wind. Spinnaker run towards bembridge, then a nice run back into Portsmouth.

Looks like tomorrow may not be so nice, and I am hauling boat out wednesday for some work.

Hi Dave. Just noticed the boat name in your profile, we were just a little north of you on the almost deserted Folly pontoon, quite an unusual experience to have a choice of tables.

We did our own RTI on Sunday, getting an early start in order to catch the last of the ebb past the Needles, and had a superb day. Including a rip down the Solent and out through Hurst before dawn, with an 8.5knt reach in flat water to the east of the island. Looked like it was building up to a great sailing day today as well. Unfortunately we couldn't hang around to enjoy it, as we had to deliver the boat to the Hamble first thing for a spot of warranty work.

Steve.
