Hello all just joined up.

I need some help please.
I am looking to buy a small boat around 12' - 13' with trailer and engine. Going to use it for canals, lake, Reservoir use for fishing.
Had had a look around and not knowing much about boats I am confused in what to go for.
I have looked and dory type hulls or your average boat shape (think they call um V hulls) and also aluminum type boats
I only have around £1500 to spend at this present time but would be looking for complete tow away outfit.
What would you recommend.

Thanks

Gary

I would have a look at a dory for canal, lake & reservoir use. Something like the Dell Quay. There are 11, 13 & 15 foot versions around the size range you are thinking of. Stable and plenty of room. Quite a few about and usually sold as a complete set up of engine, boat and trailer; often in your price range.

Can't go far wrong with whats been suggested so far. To broaden your search also look at Bonwitco boats. They do some lovely little dingies and even stretch up to 20 odd feet. Had one for years that I've used for pottering round poole harbour and poole bay for fishing.

This boat has now gone on Ebay but I reckon it would have been OK for you. A bit of a cabin gives some shelter if wet or if SWMBO, or kids, want to have a kip.

Actually I have just realised the boat did not reach the reserve, however it does need an engine. I would guess a 10hp engine would have been adequate.
Keep looking on Ebay and boutsandoutboards.

Thanks all I have managed to find one which should suit me I pick it up on Wednesday /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
15ft Cormorant dory. 15hp Mercury 2 stroke (2002 model) Comes with full controls and teleflex steering.
The boat comes on a hallmark rollercoaster 2 trailer, which is like new, fully galvenised, and has just had new bearings and a new jockey wheel fitted to it!! new remote tank and hose, expensive oars, brand new 80 aH leisure battery.
Engine serviced by Robin Curnow (biggest outboard specialist in cornwall), not long ago. I have winterised it, and it hasn't been used since, The boat is also in good condition and still original gel coat with no repairs.
Managed to get it for £1300 with loads of haggling and an hour on the phone /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I think I found a bargain here as the guy was desperate for cash.
