Hedley and Ellis - Superb Customer Service

Cosmetically, there are only a few things that have aged badly on my boat. The shore power overload trip is one...

I wasn't going to do anything about it but when it tripped recently I found it hard to reset so I thought I'd drop Hedley and Ellis an email as they previously supplied these to Fairline. I've had good experiences with them in the past when they supplied me with some Gewiss switches that are end of line with Gewiss (and custom sprayed for Fairline) at a very reasonable cost.

Anyhow, I was delighted when they confirmed (within the hour) that despite them not being used by Fairline for many years (10?) they had the trip units in stock and get an occasional request for them. The cost £28.50 for the whole unit! The new one turned up today...

Very pleased I am too!

well if it packs up in the med cost more ,you could take the switch out make it smaller ,one more thing check the connections after a month of use

Carlo Riva (RIP) would be delighted by your comment.
Allegedly, back in the wooden Riva days, he used to walk around the production sheds in the evening, checking the boats which were being built.
And whenever he spotted something wrong (including unaligned screws, though I believe they only used phillips heads, hence needing just 45deg max rotation to be aligned, as opposed to up to 90 of the above screws), he gave a proper hammer blow on that point.
This way, the poor worker who was building the boat - on top of the name and shame, so to speak - had to rebuild the whole part, rather than just rotate the screw to align it.
So much for cost reduction in boatbuilding...
