Heater exhaust burning

The exhaust hose, the SS pipe that gets very hot goes direct to the exhaust fitting and everything else is kept well away from it.
This looks dangerous to me, that exhaust pipe needs lagging and probably supporting too before it causes a fire, severe burns, or gases someone!

It's inside a locker, and nothing is touching it. As long as we are careful not to stuff the locker full of fenders touching the exhaust pipe there is no problem.

That is very very rigid SS pipe it's not going to sag so does not need any more support. It does not leak.

Agreed it may be of benefit to lag it and suggestions (as above) for something to wrap around it are welcome. That will just stop it being very hot, which is the only risk at the moment. the original kit did not provide any lagging for the exhaust so they did not expect it to be lagged.

The problem with that is humans are terrible at this sort of thing. The reason we do proper installs is to remove the risk of stupid accidents. If people could be trusted not to do stupid things we'd have a lot less regulation and guidance. At the very least can you be certain you won't reach in to troubleshoot when tired and sleepy?

It might be a rigid pipe but it's on a moving vessel and will eventually suffer from vibration and movement causing work hardening which will result in cracks and gas leaks.

Sorry to be so blunt, but your installation is not safe. If you're the only one ever on board and won't sell then that's on you, but if you have guests then you are responsible both morally and legally for their wellbeing as owner/skipper.
