I insulated most of the exhaust with some compressed ceramic fibre mat sold for lagging the flue of a blacksmith's forge. It was easy to work with and has done an excellent job (so far).
This looks dangerous to me, that exhaust pipe needs lagging and probably supporting too before it causes a fire, severe burns, or gases someone! The exhaust hose, the SS pipe that gets very hot goes direct to the exhaust fitting and everything else is kept well away from it.
It's inside a locker, and nothing is touching it. As long as we are careful not to stuff the locker full of fenders touching the exhaust pipe there is no problem. This looks dangerous to me, that exhaust pipe needs lagging and probably supporting too before it causes a fire, severe burns, or gases someone!
The problem with that is humans are terrible at this sort of thing. The reason we do proper installs is to remove the risk of stupid accidents. If people could be trusted not to do stupid things we'd have a lot less regulation and guidance. At the very least can you be certain you won't reach in to troubleshoot when tired and sleepy? As long as we are careful not to stuff the locker full of fenders touching the exhaust pipe there is no problem
