We have to replace the 'asbestos' type covering over the cooker in the galley & over the gas water heater.
The sheet over the cooker is flush and forms part of the deck head. The cover above the heater is a suspended piece with spacers to hold it off the deck head.
Any ideas of the best product to use please?

Lots of motorsport places do a woven glass cloth with a reflective aluminium foil face called (I think) "Nomex". Sometimes sold as "exhaust wrap" - Try Demon Tweeks or Merlin Motorsport.

Our cooker area is lined with a embossed aluminium sheeting but try as I will I cannot find it for sale. Must be available but google has let me down with only 10,000,000 hits. Perhaps a marine calor gas installer might know.

Thanks for the info Pete.

Thanks for the advice. Buying in very small quantaties may be a problem. Someone has suggested tiles but that seems a bit difficult when they have to be suspended aloft!
Will keep trying, thanks.

embossed aluminium sheeting

[/ QUOTE ] DIY stores eg B&Q sell something that might be what you describe but it is rather thin

My galley is lined with aluminium sheet with a sort of textured surface pattern that was used for making cladding over thermal insulation on stem pipes etc. It is a bit thicker than what I have seen in the shops.
