I am retro-fitting a boat, including the heads. I was going to put in a vacuflush systm with holding tank. I've been warned by several, however, of problems. Noise, cloggs (especially from someone using too much paper), vacuum leaks that are hard to repair, to mention a few. It was suggested to me to use the Raritan Aquarius instead that can be hooked up to use fresh water. Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated.

IMHO, you cannot beat normal pumped heads, simple and effective, with a holding tank if you want. The blakes lavac vacumn type, with a pump, would also be ok, I'd keep it simple. Easier to repair when things go amiss.

My boat (Sealine S37) was fitted with a toilet handpump from new and we got fed up with all the hand pumping so bought the maserator conversion which although incredibly noisy is effective. Following Colin's thread we always keep the hand pump bit stowed away in case of electrical failure.
