I made a point of mentioning to my wife how well the girls were cleaning, and suggested she take note. Apparently I've no chance!

I also sort of think that if you have a crew and don't skipper the boat yourself is it still boating ???????. Perhaps they do however.

Also how some of that décor and other ornaments will fair in rough seas baffles me

Boating doesn't come into it at all if the commentary is to believed. They are the new estates, with a healthy keeping up with the Jones thrown in. 10 million a year in maintenance was a quote I heard. Bloomin heck. For their 9 weeks jaunt it's a million a week.
Well at least the manufacturers cant feel let down. None sold bar the so called bargain 8 million jobbie. I wonder how long I'll have to wait before they come down to a more affordable price? 10 years? :p

I don’t know who the décor is aimed at but some of it was pretty dire stuff.
Even the guy selling the yacht with the “purple room” left it until last, through sheer embarrassment, I’d say.
Are they going for a bordello style?
They may have the millions,
but as the old saying goes,
“Whatsa matter? Ain’t you got no couth?”

Now a Nordhavn 52 ft would fulfill my dreams.
I’m trying to get there, but I’m still about
15 ft short!

The guy who owned Kismet II had pots of cash which was in direct contrast to his taste. You could see the expense but it materialised into something awful. And what is it with God awful huge chandeliers?

The old adage 'cash rich, time poor' needs extending with 'taste devoid'

I suppose all these comments could be put down to envy at the end of the day. As I am never likely to be in the position to put that to the test (unless a long lost oil sheik relative dies) we'll never know.

Rule. No 1.
There will always be somebody down the pontoon with a much bigger boat than you.
Rule No 2.
Money does not and never will buy you taste, tat perhaps but not taste.
As for envy, not with those interiors matey..... :)

I wouldn't go so far as to say no taste, just not mine. And as pointed out by some earlier posters, I would want a boat that I was in control of. The concept of having crew doesn't really appeal. Except maybe a chef, my stomach is always going to win on that score, SWMBO, bless her, is a terrible cook :p

Don't knock it until you try it. My SWMBO broke her leg last year and I employed a stewardess to help us during a week long cruise. She was fantastic, not only doing all the catering and shopping but every time we stopped, she started cleaning the boat. It was great to be plied with canapes and cocktails on arrival in port and to wake up every morning to breakfast already prepared and a sparkling boat. She even had us doing yoga every day as well. The thing about having crew is that it allows you to do only the things you want to do on the boat which in my case is the helming and navigating but not much else

I suggested to the SWMBO that we employ this girl on a more regular basis even after her leg had mended but that suggestion was turned down flat. SWMBO said it had nothing at all to do with the fact that the girl was about half the SWMBO's age and rather decorative;)
