Looks like a date thenWe're planning to be there with friends on board, it was an absolute blast last year. The wind forecast and tides are perrrrrrfect for a journey from the North, monstrous tides to whisk us both ways and a beam reach with sunshine. Even the dog's excited. The Vulcan performed most of its manoeuvres over the anchored yachts last year, fingers crossed for the howl again this year.

We hope to get down this year. Presume the anchorage is easily identified once off Clacton?
Yes there were bouys last year along the beach to keep you away from the shore, which was also patrolled by officers in blue in their rib. The Vulcan came right over our heads last year and the sound was awesome! We will be there again on Friday![]()
Should see the Sea King in action. Amazing to think they will be out of service. Mate of mine pulled Richard Branson out of the Atlantic whilst serving with 824 Naval Air Squadron when his ballon ditched off Rockall. Will be a poignant reminder of the amazing service the crews and airframe have given us boaters, climbers and mountaineers.
What sort of depths in the anchorage? I'm just wondering if I've got enough chain in the locker if the exclusion zone pushes out into the Wallet.
I'm trying to remember but I think we anchored in about 7m. We only have 35m of chain and we were well and truly OK, no need for us to use the rope.
