Headlining - Can i use standard waterproof PVA as adhesive for foam/ply & foam/vinyl?

Hi, I've read on a forum that i can use standard waterproof PVA to adhere both the foam to the vinyl and the foam to the plywood. Are there any concerns with this approach?

Also, someone suggested that if i used the waterproof underlay foam used for good quality laminate flooring, then this would be cost effective, readily available and be pretty much the same stuff supplied by the usual headliner retailers. Any thoughts on this?

Thank you.

I would have though so!! PVA needs to dry so bonding 2 impervious items is an issue. However glue wood to wood and foam to foam with PVA so it should be fine.
I believe underlay foam should be fine.
The experts will now come along!!

You can certainly use a water proof PVA wood glue to stick foamed vinyl to ply.

Lots of advice on adhesives and a headlining fixing guide on the Hawke House website http://www.hawkehouse.co.uk/

It appears that although PVA woodglue is recommended for foam backed vinyl onto ply a contact adhesive is need for unfoamed vinyl. I would think that applies to plain vinyl whatever it its is glued to.

Not found any evidence of PVA softening when warmed! A test piece placed on the central heating pump showed no signs of softening
