The material which lines the ceiling of my boat is getting quite grubby, it also was used to cover some of the cabin walls. It looks like a ribbed carpet like material. Has anyone cleaned a material like this with any success before or do I just rip it all off and recover completely? I wondered if one of these spray on shampoo carpet cleaners where you spray on and vacuum off might work? but perhaps someone out there knows better?? I have a birchwood mid eighties.
Thanks in advance for all suggestions,

Barry

bilge cleaner, if it's plastic. Worked brillaintly on seats. Only prob for seats (won't matter for headlining) was all the seats then contained quite powerful bleach, which ruined all the clothes of anyone who sat on them, but nothing that couldn't be cured by er selling the boat and buying another one.

Try it on a small area first. Oh soddit, they always say that, just bung it on. Cover the carpets before splashing it about.

How about one of these little steam cleaners which seem to be advertised in just about all the magazines at the moment. Thought about one to use on my boat, has anyone else used them?

Steam Cleaners...

Funny you should say that LJS - I'm lugging an evapouretti (SP) steam cleaner down to the boat this weekend to have a crack at the carpets and some stains on the head lining. I shall report to the board the success of failure of my spring cleaning <G>

We bought it for the caprets and tiled floors at home - but is great at getting brake dust of alloy wheels - or it was until SWMBO caught me and made me buy her a new set of tools for it and another pair of black boots.

Havoc, fire, confusion, and mis-trust, yes my work here is done...

If you like, you could try a sample of our general purpose cleaner & carpet cleaner. We are just starting to sell Marine products. It works wonders.
Give Ian Andrews a call on 07989 402021 and he'll arrange the sample for you, no charge......................I'd like to hear your review.

Re: Steam Cleaners... OK Thumbs Up.

Works a treat - brought up the carpet and headlining really well. Even did sterling work on the viynal. Not so good on the canopy but I think that is a major task.

Not sure about the value of smaller steam cleaners but I will definately be taking ours down again in the future.

Just call me Mr Mopp <G>, can't steer, can't navigate but does polish really well!
