in an hour or so....or at least I hope we are as there's a lot of yellow appearing! Short run to Benson for tonight then Oxford tomorrow and a straight run back to T&K on Saturday. Do give us a shout if you see Akamas....beer, red & rum all loaded:p
 
We have only encountered one lock on self service since we left Bray on Saturday. However, Whitchurch Lock had a sign up today warning that the lock would be on self-service on Saturday 31st May, Sunday 1st of June and Saturday 7th June, Sunday 8th June AND Monday 9th June due to a shortage of lock staff this year....

What a splendid stretch of river that is......really beautiful, undeveloped English countryside. I had no idea we had so many WW11 pill-boxes along it....interesting reading on the background.

Benson was a splendid overnight stay with spotless showers/toilet facilities and we ate at the Crowne which has been completely refurbished/new owners.

As for un-manned locks: apart from three we went through before the lockies started and a couple during lunch breaks, there was only one un-manned: Whitchurch on Saturday.
