Hi All,
I'll be heading downriver on Saturday, from Bray marina to Penton marina with my slightly reluctant girlfriend as crew, so if you see Silver Dragon being rowed backwards downriver, that'd be me. :D
Does anyone know of any picturesque places to moor up for lunch?
Preferrably places with free moorings!
See you on the river!

Windsor: Just past Eton Bridge on left hand side, small but free moorings if theres any space remaining...

Staines: Just before bridge on RH side, small metal grid type mooring, easy walk to shops etc. Will take three boats, like the Windsor one.

Keep an eye on your wake eh? :D

You will see plenty of spots on your way down . If its just for lunch i doubt you will be charged anyway . I find the best spots require you to drop the hook .

It would be nice to know when you are above or below either Bell Weir or Penton Hook. If you are oared then I can arrange favours...

:D

Alex is being a bit tongue in cheek there Gavi , Silver Dragon is a Birchwood 33 with twin BMC diesels on shafts.

Mind you, I would not put it past him to try rowing her!

Yes Paul but with your past history of being rescued he may HAVE to row her

Alex don't forget to check fuel level before departure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We moored up for lunch at Runnymead a few weeks ago and the National Trust truck and mooring fee collector turned up literally within seconds for their fee which I think was £4.00 so advise you give that one a miss.
Have a good trip

'Citroen' moorings on the right after Runnymede pleasure grounds a little before the boatyard.
Staines town immediately after Staines road bridge on left, or opposite outside The Swan pub.

We topped the tanks up to full from over half full.... Cost £350! Apparently she has two 110 gallon tanks. No fuel gauges though, just a bamboo cane.

Off to the Rodeo today, forecast is about 110 degrees C..... :o

This is true!

I have one for the water tank too, all nicely calibrated by a previous owner.

Minor inconvenience to use, but 100% accurate and reliable (unlike the Toilet tank LED gauge, which offers three positions, empty, high and full, none of which seem accurate)

In case of failure, I'll have to buy a new Bamboo... :D

So Dads away.....and son is taking the boat out with his girlfriend.....and only the Atlantic between them....

Enjoy!!! (take flag down and cover name)

First of all, you should all know by now that it's MY boat, Ramage just funds it! :P

Also, I think this thread has gone downhill somewhat... ;)
I blame No Regrets, as per usual!

In other News, thanks for the suggestions all, I'll see where is free on Saturday.
See you out there!

Hi Alex you could always use my saxon mainstream mooring if you want as that would be both free of cost and empty as I still dont have a boat on it yet, its the second to last pontoon as you go past the access channel to the main marina.
