Servicing my winches yesterday had difficulty getting the centre hub back down into its respective sleeve due to the pawls, which fit inside it, holding it from going down.
The pawls cant be held back while lowering the hub down as they fit up inside the hub.
After fiddling about for a while and wondering how I could hold the pawls back, I suddenly had a BRAIN WAVE and used a soluable Asprin broken in two, half used to hold back each pawl, worked a treat, as once the hub was lowered it crushed the asprin which will disolve away.
