Second one-way valve helps
Firstly, I agree with comments that the pin-hole goes on the inlet side. If an anti-syphon device is needed on the outlet pipe, a simple pin-hole will not work. I would have thought that any device was liable to block in fact - we haven't got one despite the toilet being just below the waterline and there has been no problem - the boat has been like that for 18 years.
Secondly, I have had another problem with our Lavac. When an 'object' was in the inlet valve (a one-way valve if not held open) of the pump on the expell stroke of the pump, a large amount of dirty water would be shot back into the toilet with messy results. My solution was to put a second one-way valve in the outlet pipe near to the toilet. Works without problem now.
