HD Hero 2

Simple GoPro question, hopefully.

How do you know what you are filming with no viewing screen?

A red light flashes when the camera is recording, visible from the front and from the top'

Oh, and another one.

The charge seems to be via USB only. So you have to carry a computer with you?

It will charge from a mini USB cable and from a car charger. In fact from any thing with a small USB .

Oops, another one.

Some of the shots seem very stable, particularly on the rib. What mounting? All I can see on Google is lots of mention of sticky pads. Surely not.

TIA

There are a range of accesories. I have one which clamps to the A frame of a rib, there is a heavy duty suction clamp which comes with the Motor kit.

Or you can see what more is available by looking HERE

It is not difficult!

Thanks ... how do you know WHAT your filming, not IF you are filming? Is it just a case of point and hope a bit?

Part of the reason for the wide angle. When mounted on the A frame of a rib for example you can't see the back anyway. If you want that sort of visual effect then buy a handheld video. They are remote units designed for action. I have the LCD back, but frankly that was a waste of money.

The BBC use them in Top Gear and for other action programmes. During the Olympics they were mounted on the big balloons that were used in the opening ceremony.

Thanks. Explains the brilliant videos people take. I had a head cam that when strapped to my ski helmet filmed the sky. Or the piste. Or my feet. :(

I purchased the Panasonic Waterproof Duel Camera/Cancorder on Dylan's recommendation and have found it to be a versatile and easy to use. As Dylan says the batteries and SD cards are getting cheaper by the day too so grab a few of each and away you go. I did think about the GoPro but at the end of the day the distorted image put me off.
