I found the end of a tub of West Epoxy hardener has fallen on its side in the garage. It leaked out, and has pooled like syrup on top of a large, fairly full tin of some nameless paint I found on the yacht a couple of years ago. Very nasty stuff, I believe.

I also have other half-tins of paint, and old tubes of plastic padding hardener, resins and other gloop marked with the hazardous symbol.

I can't find a dump that will take them.

Hard to believe that the Solent area (with so many yachtsmen and traders using paints and other chemicals) has no facility for dealing with the waste.

Can anybody tell me where to try?

Please don't suggest I stick it in the regular rubbish.

The first problem you will face in the Solent area is that the waste disposal sites in both W Sussex (Westhampnett near Chichester), and Hampshire (Havant, Port Solent...) will only accept waste if you live in that county. Certainly, the Chi site will take old paint etc, but you need to go there by car and show that you live in W Sussex. I think the Hamphsire sites have similar rules, but also might require prior booking of a slot as well. I dont know about IOW disposal sites....

Thanks all. After a chat with an obliging chap at my local tip, it seems they will take paints and other nasty muck.

As said, an appointment is necessary.
