Having work done in Holland?

Oh friends, gurus, wisemen and shaman.

We are going to Holland at the end of June.

We need to have new anodes fitted. Aside from the deliberations we are having regarding which anodes and if we can wait that long (vis freshwater v salt) - can anyone say if it's a good idea to wait until we are in Holland. We've heard tell that it's much cheaper to get lifted over there and all we need is a lift and hold while we change over the anodes.

Our alternative is to go to South Dock for a lift and hold which will be about £500. We've already bitten that bullet, but if the advice comes back that it would be worthwhile waiting til we get toHOlland then we will do so. Of course, then I will be asking if anyone can recommend a place. We are going to Middelburg and Zeeland province. Visiting Zeebrugge, De Omloop, Oosterschelde, Goes, Sint Annaland Marina, Zierekzee, Roompotsluis.

There is an inexpensive yard on the port hand just before Goes, you would need to check if any weight issues. its a very friendly place too

thanks. It's in the list of considerations. It's just that there are none that are convenient for us to get to (we are in Limehouse, so I think the nearest ones are at Medway YC or Brightlingsea) and we are going to Holland in six weeks anyway.

DOes anyone know where there are others we might use?
 
We know the marina inside the lock at Flushing is extremely reasonable and efficient. Not sure what tonnage limit there is. We met up with two uk boats there . One a Sigma 36 lost his prop jilling about waiting for the bridge. Within a couple of minutes of being in the marina they had him in the hoist with a wash down underway. It turns out the marina manager had a suitable spare prop and loaned the sigma it saying post it back to me when you have finished with it. That says a great deal about the guy to me. Defo worth a thought.
Our Dutch friends laugh when we talk about the charges we have to pay in blitey. Have often thought about getting jobs done in Holland.

Something a bit left field but what about a diver? Once I had to replace a shaft anode after relaunch as it was it the wrong position when going astern.

In S Dock, it will probably have to be a "commercial" diver.. all H&S regs... Plus a standby diver all kitted up... a lift is almost certainly cheeper...

As you're going to Zeebrugge, why not pull into Ostend?
Have anti-fouled on Robert's scrubbing grid a few times.
Don't recall the exact fee, but it was very reasonable.
And there's lots to do in town while you wait for the boat to refloat.

I did my own as I carry dive kit on board (and am a BSAC qualified leisure diver).
It's a no brainer to have surface cover plus a line to the surface to be sure of route back up.
I've also donned the dive kit to 'rescue' various boat parts dropped over the side and helped to unwind a sheet wrapped around a prop.
