Yes, once again it's broken down. What a pile of junk the thing must be. Can't believe they do any preventive maintenance, they must simply wait for it to go wrong.
It would be laughable if it wasn't for the many people locally who rely on the thing to be operational.
 
How many boats actually use Havengore? Can only be a matter of time before it becomes a fixed bridge. Or are channels protected like public footpaths?

Yes. I think we all know where this is going. Not practical to replace etc etc.............

Would be a real shame to lose it .

All navigable rivers are protected as highways. However, in the UK only those with deep pockets can ever suceed in the civil courts. Especially when the ones tasked to ensure free passage are the very ones likely to want to stop you to save money. They could, probably, fill in the Havengore Creek and sell it to the Chinese to raise money for the town hall.
