Couple of weeks ago I bought some dock fenders from Boatfenderstore.co.uk and used a discount code pinned up on club notice board “5off” fitted them a week ago and they are great on my finger pontoon, anyway received a call from club secretary demanding I remove them as I had fixed them on with screws and had not got permission “Put my hands up didn’t think it was an issue” when I went to remove offending fenders club secretary was there waiting and I thought I am in trouble now?, Turns out he wanted to know where I bought them as he wanted some for his yacht, he even helped me re-secure mine with pull ties that he had bought specially, moral is check with your club before you start screwing the dock! Big thanks to Bob at the club, and an apology for not asking first. Yacht now safe and sound for the winter ahead..

That sounds like a good idea. The fenders that are on my boat are far too big,(got smaller ones) so I will ask if I could attach them permanently to the finger mooring.

When you fit them, please look at them from the point of view of someone in the water.

I took the proverbial long walk off a short pier a few years ago (long story and no, I wasn't pissed). I was fine making my way hand over hand along the pontoon until I came to some dock fenders. The only way past was to let go and swim. I'm a good swimmer, so it wasn't really a problem, but for someone less able to manage in the water, especially with a strong current, it could be serious. A bit of rope just below the fender would have made it a lot easier.
