Not wanting to hijack Kam's keel loading thread.

Something I've thought about but not when sailing.

Boats often creak a little when taking the ground so-

When bouncing around in a seaway, lifting the cabin sole or locker lid (my boat is bilge keel) and observing the area around the mountings or assessing by touch whether any vibration or give was detectible.

Anyone?

Likewise. And when we did get a yard to take the keel off to fix a leak, it took them all morning with angle-grinders and crowbars. The top of our keel flares out to give more contact area, and fits into a recess in the fibreglass :encouragement:
