Have the 'Bankers' taken over the EA

...just no "delete" or "#" key on the keyboard.

Macs are ok for visual and media stuff but not for anything business based and involving financials.

# :)

Made on a Mac...#

Seriously, you haven't used a Mac recently have you?

Even my iPhone has a # and I can delete what I want to!!

Well I have, i have one on my desk and have done for many years.

...but its only for establishing our web applications we build will run with all browsers and systems.

Its nice for browsing and Wordprocessing, I can see how you would use it for Desktop Publishing and Uncle Tone for Music.

But I work in the city and big business applications dont run on Macs so I had to take the decision long ago that if i wanted to earn a good living, Microsoft was where the money is.

I am not any bigger fan of Microsoft than anyone else is, but as it stands thats what business uses.

We do have a department here that builds Java apps on Linux and that is gaining ground but youreally have to be a "Propeller Head" to work in that.

As an aside - A colleague is Apple's biggest fan and has every bit of kit, phone, pad, Imac and Macbook air, has Steve Jobs book - i am painting a picture here.
....funny enough on his Macbook Pro he has reinstalled it with Windows!

Sorry Mate - I agree with Rock.

LOL, I'll bet you two have Blackberries too....the corporate lepers you are :D

The issue is with your software provider, not the Mac, which is a superior machine.

I appreciate the fact your specialist software people only supply PC suites, but this is beginning to change as programs hit the cloud...:o

Careful Mike, lets at least get the facts straight - I think you mean that he has installed a virtual windows environment which allows him to run Windows software on his Mac as well as using it as a regular Mac machine?

I could say "try doing that on a PC to run Mac software" but I guess that would be needlessly provocative? :D

Use what you like best or what best suits your purposes. I use both but must admit that after decades of being a PC person I have 'crossed over to the other side' as a preferred platform choice.

No, I have an Iphone, doesnt everybody these days?

I agree on the hardware front, thats why my colleague put windows on his.

Cloud - dont get me started on that one.....

On my third Cloud project since start of the year. The players in that market are Amazon and Microsoft.

Er, no i dont. It can and has been done. You can set Mac up for a Dual boot, MacOs or Windows.

OK - dual boot/virtual - my bad choice of words - but the intent of my reply still stands. Or are you saying he ONLY uses his Mac as a Windows machine? :D

It is my understanding that its a pukka windows partition on the drive and not virtual.

When he is next in i can ask him if you like.

It is my understanding that its a pukka windows partition on the drive and not virtual.

Which is what I conceded in my previous post. However, my point was that he is running a Windows environment on his Mac IN ADDITION TO his Mac OS.

Brayman - there is no need to be worrying about me. If you want to help you could set up a Just Giving account on my behalf :D

It is possible to have it "as well as" but you can also have it "instead of"

Most have it "as well as" cos its still nice to play with MacOS for browsing and Media type applications.

I wish I had bought a Mac..... Maybe then Rebellion would not keep playing Skyrim on my computer (it seems his laptop is not powerful enough?).

Not much about the Thames and boats. Try The Lounge

Tell you what, why dont you post something boaty and thames related then?

Maybe they're coming after me as I have 2 Blackberrys!! No iphone or Mac in sight in my house. Have to admit to 4 ipods though :o

So to get this back on Thames boating, we were out last weekend on Saturday in bright but cold weather. As these pictures show we saw no other boats! We had a lovely time...

I will be at my boat all weekend but have to admit to staying at the marina overnight as it's going to be cold and I need a bit of heat!!!

Very boaty, but the thread is "Have the bankers taken over the EA".

I don't think they have as yet, although there are certainly a few "Merchant Bankers" about....

:D
