Have I offended?

I saw your post yesterday,and thought some folk would no doubt complain, but I hoped that someone who had been a member for 5 years (albeit also has a life outside of YBW.com!) and also was in a bit of a bind would be cut a "bit of slack". But obviously not...............

IMO what you should have done is made the post into a question, outline your problem and then invite a dicussion as to whether you would be better off selling or looking for another partner and THEN asked if anyone would be interested.

Seriously; we used to have the site in the signature, but I decided to remove it. However that was nothing to do with "Rules". I always understood it was acceptable as long as it was a subtle mention and you also put a reciprocal link back to the forums on your own web-site.

I suppose an appeal for partners or buyers is a bit over the mark. As already said, a discussion about the best way to market your boat and a plea for a valuation by fellow forumites, having followed a link to see some pictures, would be less obvious.

Yes, I too thought this was a clever way of circumventing any rules, but it may now have backfired as a result of all this free publicity.

Afterall, I have absolutely no gain from doing so. Its merely where I am a member and keep my boat. So whats the problem with that?

[/ QUOTE ]as a member you will have an interest in ensuring it financial longevity. I have no problem with you having it is a link in your footer ...... but nor do I have a problem with the Jubiliee Trust seeing if any of us want to make up the numbers on one of their trips.

PS I've got my own addiction - I've just taken delivery of another 462 feet of 5 by 2.5 reclaimed teak planks from one of the Mersey ferries - and I'll be spending the next few days drooling over it.

Big problem, which apparently you don't appreciate.
The implication, in English-speak, is that you officially represent the [name removed] club and are authorised to be a spokesperson on all matters nautical, even matters which have nothing to do with the sea, as this Forum bears witness.

Were I on your Committee i would take great exception unless we had sanctioned such a public contribution.

(Don't tell me, you also represent the [class removed] owners' association. Or am I getting confused??

I'd best get on with running our seaside [type of serviced accommodation removed] on [location removed] within convenient walking distance of [marina & sailing club removed].
