Five years I've been on this forum, both giving and taking. I send up a distress signal - I need a new boat partner or I'll have to sell my boat - last night and it's deleted overnight!

Although undoubtedly a For Sale post, my post did actually ask a clear question: can anyone offer advice about where best to post this message? Last time I looked there had been well over 100 looks at my message.

Have I offended? Did anyone see my "50% share in Sabre 27" post and feel it was out of line?
For the first time ever in all my time on this forum, I confess to being slightly miffed.

Any advice...

Regards, Mudhook.

On reading it, I sympathised with your problem, but I think you've hit the nail on the head yourself.

I admit to being one (probably of many) who clicked 'inform moderator' and I stand by that decision.

The ad was quite clearly a 'for' sale' ad on a discussion forum and the 'advice please' line at the bottom did nothing to mitigate that fact. If that sort of ad was allowed on the forum the place would soon turn into a free advertising space. The decision to remove the post was made by the moderators, no doubt also motivated by the fact that it would be in direct competition with their advertising service.

If you had really just wanted advice on where to advertise, why post full details of price etc?

Maybe he has a life besides posting on fora - some of us have you know.

I wouldnt be too offended the moderators even binned a post from the Jubilee Trust(Disabled Sailing Charity)as it contained an offer of some cost price berths.

I suppose they have to stop advertisers or the forum would be full of it.

Very honourable of you to actually 'stand up' and say that you were partly responsible for getting the post pulled.... I suspect that not many others would do that.

Don't get me wrong, I know the JST is a charity, but does that give them the right to 'advertise' on these fora? If it wasn't a charity they wouldn't be allowed, so..... just quote its for charity and all is OK? I do think there should be one set of rules to which everyone can abide by.

Exactly!

By the way, is your Moody still up for sale?
