Guys,

been down the boat tonight and water doesn't run from the taps. It was all ok yesterday so my question is, has something burst like it could at home after a night of minus 12 or something, or might it be a fuse or something? The light is on the panel but when I peered behing the panel I realised what a clueless chump I really am!

Any ideas or suggestions gratefully received,

Andy

Just frozen up perhaps. If it is you'll have to wait until it thaws to find out if anything is damaged. Plastic pipes should be OK.

when leaving the boat i always ( when i remember) after turning off 12 v power open the taps .
this releaves the pressure on the accumilator tank diaphram & gives it a longer life + the system has less water retained to freeze causing expensive replacement.
the Jabsco pump info recomended the above

if there was frozen water in the system it may have overloaded the pump?

[/ QUOTE ] That will be the down side possibly of doing what Jabsco and Sailorman suggest. If it was left pressurised with a bit of luck it has frozen up with the pressure switch in the off position

A Bavaria 33. The water pump (Ithink) is under the bunk in the stern, next to water tank. No sign of a fuse near by and as I said, the back of the switch panel is a mass of wires.

The best solution to frozen pipes on a boat is to move south!!

The trouble is, you don't know until it thaws. A few years back I went down to our Sadler to find that the plastic pipes had frozen and the expanding ice pushed the pipes off the spigot of the water filter. When it thawed the contents of the freshwater tank emptied into the bilge. Water was above the saloon boards. Since then I have always drained the system ( and the heads) before leaving the boat.
