Have a Pop at Mobo speed thread on the PBO forum

Nice videos of motorboats passing by at reasonable speed and not making much wash at all.
 
Lighten up, jeez. Don't mobo drivers have a sense of humour? Which leads to a philosophical question - is being wound up by holier than thou bullshit, in fact holier than holier than thou?

Ridiculous thread - the videos show that the mobos had no significant impact on Dylans progress. Having switched from a 48' planing mobo to a 33' yacht, I thought life would be hell in the Solent, but it isn't. Mobo wash? 99% of the time, much ado about nothing.
 
Dylan just loves to film mobos, they have so much more interesting lines and shapes than the flat decked raggies with just a stick in the middle. It would be very boring out there if you never saw another boat because they were all going at the same speed and never came past :)

The only problem I've had with mobos is that none of them come close enough for me to wave a thank you at them. :encouragement:
 
Speaking as a raggie I like Dylans videos, but I do find his anti-mobo stance a tad embarrassing...personally I find one of the pleasures of being on the water is sharing it with a wide array of other craft. In 30 years of sailing, I can count the number of times a mobo has caused me a stressful moment on the fingers of one hand. Please don't take Dylans standpoint as representative ;)

+1 I came from MOBO to sail a few years back and like others and there virtually no instances of wash ever bothering us. Afterall, its just a couple of waves.
 
I only got as far as the title of the video and brain went into 'religious lock-down mode' and somehow the tab auto-closed - much like the front door does when they come knocking... :D Seeing it was Dylan, I also knew there would be a potato epaulette and it would be aimed at stirring up a hornet's nest!
 
I thought the one in the first video was me for an awful minute, then I realised it wasn't nearly close enough as I would have gone over to see if he was snagged on something.

I had to look twice but then thought how sedate progress was :p
