Yes,I made a big mistake years ago when Joe Charlton, CYS wanted me to buy the fibreglass company off the English guy in Lefkas.

Met too many people over the years who don't seen to have much good words to say about him, although his Chandlers has a good stock of stuff but don't order any thing and expect it any time soon. Lol

You are right ,he was one of the main reasons i walked away.

I think, when people are happy to pay that amount for a week is a good reason to sail elsewhere.

Don't think I said anything about being happy with it, simply the best price I could find at the time I had available. All 3 Preveza yards were full over the winter so that wasn't an option. I could have come out in Lefkas marina now as well but that was considerably more expensive!

Sorry, it was not to be offensive, however, it does make you wonder why so many people fly into Athens, spend a lot of money, one way or another to travel there, then have to pay 30%-40% more to park their boat in an overcrowded sailing area. I spent 5 years there in the late nineties/early 2002 and it was crowded and expensive then.

None taken, but thanks for mentioning it. I have my own reasons for being here now even though it has become very crowded for a short period of the year. I've no doubt it was better when you were here but it is still beautiful and a great sailing location for much of the year. Obviously I'd rather many people didn't come here during the peak period and that prices were lower but I can only deal with what I'm faced with now and make my own judgements of cost and value. Just replying to the OP question with current details in this area.

I have been hauling out my boat in Aktio boatyard for 12 years now and what I like about the yard are the solid cradles for supporting the boats. In some of the other yards, they use sticks and drums. Not a good thing to do in a place that's prone to earthquakes and strong winds. Furthermore, only a handful of boats are stored near long grass - most of the yard is packed down gravel. If it bothers you, they will move you or cut the grass - just ask. Also, there is no sign of the donkeys, although I sometimes hear them in the distance. I think they stay in the olive grove at the back which is now fenced off. The yard is very well maintained and the staff friendly and helpful. I broke my leg this winter and had to stay on board - Kostas shopped for me and delivered my groceries. They offer provisioning for boats as one of their services.

Bit late to the board on this one.
Yard in Xalkoutsi, on mainland opposite Eyvia, has a new sled and new concrete ramp, charges around 200 euro a month. Am in there now for a few months, happy with them. Hour to Athens airport. Taxi's available locally at reasonable rates.

Hiya,
got a 'special' receipt which was about 600 if I remember, for 3 months, haul in and out and pressure wash and scrape. Im a sadler 32.
electric and water are metered I think, I have battery tools and live nearby, so dont really bother with that.
and yes, you can work on own boat.

At the Kallithea Marina (Athens), the cost for your boat is € 214 per month free of charge and € 350, the crane up and down and you can be in the boat or do some work. And of course you are in Athens and very close to the airport.
