I've got the aft deck hatch and the engine access one in cockpit floor which need bits n pieces to hold them down. Some sort of twist and lock gadget would be ideal and I thought I recalled something called a "floor anchor" in stainless but can't google it down. Searches only show up bits for holding down motorbikes or gym equip. Toggle fastener types won't fit unfortunately .Anyone know what I'm trying to describe or has another suggestion ?

Yes, what you're after are "Flush Pull Latches" There are various designs but all are basically intended to flush mount into the lifting hatch/access panel. When the hatch is closed you turn the flush handle which operates a bar on the underside to perform the locking function. Now, where to get them is another story. RWB do them but are trade only. Take a look at their site to acertain it's what you want.

If that's the part you require, you should be able to Google something up using Flush Pull Latch...
Good Luck.

A lot of older boats (like mine) have hatches secured by a screw machanism. basically a knurled knob about the size of an acorn on a pivoted screw thread locates onto a "fork" and is tightened up by truning it .

When I lost my hatch over the side I made a new hatch and fitted new mechanism. I bought the screw mechanisms from the local DIY store - they were sold for fixing down sash windows. If you want these type then try looking for sash window fittings or furnishings
good luck

Thanks for that Petite Fleur : flush fitting and I can make sense of the illustration but the price for the number I need ; some of the on-line catalogues don't give a clear enough idea about dims and so on. I'm primitive enough to prefer to have thing in my hand. Maybe a call to Mainmarine and see what he can get.
