Does anyone know how to fit the servo vane, please?

I have trawled through the available copies of the original Hasler drawings and instructions but can't decide where the two lines from the vane should go.

Has anyone got a similar gear, SP2, I believe.

Tony,

Dunno about the Haslar, but my Windpilot has two lines (well one continuous one actually) attached to the windvane rotation post to allow the angle to be adjusted from the cockpit - very useful. So I just run them back to a bungee in the cockpit.

Hope that gives you a clue.

Tony,

Hi Tony,

I had the SP2 on Helix and got it to work brilliantly BUT I sold Helix 2009 and cant remember the configuration of the "worm line", the line that controlled the angle of the vane. I've looked through my video's but cant see anything in great detail. The closest vid showing the windvane is below. it probably wont help much. The best thing would be someone who has a sp2 fitted to send you photo'

Now uploaded, fitting vanes to various boats: http://s1064.photobucket.com/albums/u367/boatscans/
on the bottom of page one, but also similar mechanical diagrams on the second page. Uploading is slow tonight, maybe I'll add more later, even to put into sub-folders.

Which 2 lines? From the top of the paddle go 2 lines via blocks at the side of the cockpit and thence to the tiller.
There is one continuous line from the aerofoil's worm gear, to help it point into the wind. That one simply hangs about the tiller, to save leaning over the back rail.

Tony,

Are talking the one in the water?

I have a wire rope, not sure it should be wire, that goes rount the blade, there is one or two loops to locate it?, then up the centre of the tube and into a hook. This is fitted with a screw adjust, and hindged overcentre to lock blade. the second one is to lift the blade I think, but do not have one fitted at the moment. So let me know when you sort it.

The wind vane has the two mentioned, plus there is the one that allows the vane to free wheel.

Brian

Thank you.

Thanks guys! It's pretty much sorted. I shall make a couple of mods and hopefully set off to Plymouth on Saturday morning!
