Re: ARC for true cruisers

having spent the last "n" years talking to ARC partsipants and felling that more than half were crazy, i started to look at the various options and there are at least 5 alternatives to the ARC they vary from well organized to nothing other than radio contact and maybe for some people that's enough.

However, my overall opinion is far from good re the rallys, most of the "sailors" i have met are totally out of their depth, it ranges from the lack of charts to a lack of basic navigation, OH the GPS will get us across, maybe it will but?

So that it's clear I am still on dry land about to jump the ditch (Cross the pond) in a French Plastic Spastic as many of the forum members would have me think, and I am doing it alone.

Yes a single handed crossing, it's not my first and won't (god willing) be my last. Heavy displacement, I love it, A solidly built heavy weather boat, Yes`````.........but at the end of the day go with what you have got.

The problem with the organized rallys is that it's either elite or plonkers paridise, and it's very difficult to not have these extremes.

Anyone who wants to join me at the begining of Jan to cross can, just reply or send me a PM
