I would have thought Hugo's intro would have raised a thread or two on here, especially given the subjects YBW history.

The purpose of this post though is not to take the pee but to allow me to be the first to give TB, now MB, my best wishes. It must have been hell living a lie, and very very brave to do what has been done. Good luck MB and I hope to see you back on these pages very soon, albeit with a new user name :D

I think you need to read the introduction of the latest MBY.
I did check to make sure it was not the April edition.
But as said by CLB good luck and all the best

Thanks for the heads up. I think I would have fallen off the toilet seat tomorrow morning reading that without prior warning. Yup, best wishes to MB

PS How can you be 'diagnosed' with it? Its not a disease is it?

I am sure Mel will be appreciative of the support and understanding shown so thank you.

As with any post on here we will be monitoring it to ensure its within the rules.....

Have a good evening.

Cheers

Yep, best wishes to Mel, bravo for what must have been big decisionery, and from now on it's Mel and otherwise business and Colregs debates/whatever as usual :encouragement:
(I haven't read the new MBY edition yet but got Tim's-->Mel's news anyway)

there are times when specious circumlocution is downright disrespectful to people who have taken life-changing decisions.

Without reading the article, I take it that Tim Barnett has had a sex-change and is now known as Mel ?

Yep and yep, but without wanting any big argument on the topic, there isn't actually any circumlocution in this thread. No worries. BTW her surname is Bartlett

I'll add my very best wishes to Mel also. A very courageous thing to do in a very judgemental world. Farewell Tim...welcome Mel.

:)

Not read the mag yet but having got the gist of it on here it sounds as though it has been dealt with very well and the supportive responses on here are most refreshing. A tough decision so hats off to Mel and all the very best for the future :)

I always wondered what happened to Mel B when the Spice Girls split up:D

You are who you are be that good bad or indifferent.

A new coat, shiny shoes and a hair cut don't change the person inside. Sometimes though you decide it's time to let the big wide world know what you're really like on the inside.

Which in my case is a ripped, washboard stomach, bronzed god. I'm just working up to the big reveal :)

A very difficult decision to take at so many levels. The world is not fair, people can be cruel and whilst ignorance is no defence it is, sadly widespread. I hope that taking this leap into the brightness of the outside world brings balance. The inside and the outside finally tell the same story.

Henry :)
