Has anywhere you have sailed choked you up?

Quite a personal one: in our first season with the boat, our first ever passage was to sail to a friend's wedding. Coincidentally, the venue, on the Isle of Harris, was the same place as we had ourselves been married. Anyway, we arrived at sunset, a pod of dolphins appeared on cue, and escorted us the last couple of miles, their backs and fins glowing orange in the light. Magic.

Getting the boat going again after a bit of a trashing from hurricane Luis.
Were you in Simpson Lagoon then?

We were on our yacht safely tucked away down south in Scotland Bay, Trinidad.

We had S.African friends Doug and Family who were in Simpson Lagoon. We heard a fair bit via the SSB. Later, a coaster from Chaguaramas went up to St Maarten with some yachties on board with supplies to lend a hand. I remember another friend Ted recalling how he started to cry as he saw the devastation on entering the lagoon.

Found this clip on YouTube. Go 5.15 mins in for Simpson Lagoon.

So much for the safe 'hurricane hole'.

Passing Cape Trafalgar, you could almost hear the cannons firing.

Also at a museum in Trinindad, they had a one page commandment from the UK government that slavery was to be abolished in five years time and in the meantime slaves must be paid. Very moving.

Having lost our mast on the 2010 ARC, 195 miles NE of Barbados, we had a lump in our throats and tears in our eyes when we crossed the "finish" line almost one year later in Rodney Bay. Very emotional given everything we had to do to be able to sail again and the arrival in St. Lucia was a major event for us. We went on to "man" the finish line for the 2011 ARC by way of closure and had a wonderful time finishing boats with horns, yells and beaming smiles.

Yes, that was the one. Brought back many memories watching that vid and some of the others it lead me to. We were relatively lucky as we were afloat and riding to our anchors afterwards. Most were sunk or ashore. We took damage from boats hitting us however. We were touched by the gesture of sending the coaster.
