Has anyone NOT bought a boat as a result of a survey?

I don't normally use the word "luck" but I have to say by the sound of it you've had more than your fair share of bad luck.

Well as the saying goes 'What goes around, comes around' As a result of my 'luck' I have met a load of great folk on here, both with help and advice and good company as well. I always look for the upside :D

A few years ago I was interested in converting an old MFV, so had her surveyed knowing from the start that the most likely outcome was gonna be 'nein danke'.

Cost me about £300, but the old girl's double-diagonal planking was a bit too far gone and according to the surveyor these are probably the most labour intensive to repair, so I walked away. No regrets, though.

I would not have bought a Nauticat in the 80's if the person who I employed to do a survey had not omitted to mention that 3 years earlier they had painted the hull, and that 6 months before that the owner had comissioned a "Proper" survey which presumably resulted in the hull being painted. And of course when I was buying it the owner never mentioned either the survey nor that it had been painted.
