has anyone installed a head on a Achilles 24

I had an Achilles in 1972, almost new, the head was manufacturer fitted. It was between the V berths and a SL400 I think. Needs to be as low a height as you can get. Think the inlet an outlet pipes were in the V area one on each side of the keel.

hi I'm looking at installing a head in a Achilles 24 . do you have any tips, I'm planning on installing in v berth.
This one from an ad on Appollo Duck is a Jabsco.

It looks as though its installed without vented loops . It is probably impractical to fit vented loops between the V berths Would mean you have to be very careful that the seacocks are closed after use.

Rather than a marine head, I'd install a porta potti or similar. No cutting holes in your boat or risking back siphoning. I've had one on my Leisures 17 and 20 and mirror offshore 19. Can be used on inland waterways and even when dried out.

My Achilles 24 had all the plumbing for a sea toilet, although the throne itself had long since been removed.

I wasn't tempted to re-establish it. It's repellent to reflect that the boat was originally commissioned for the recreation of RAF personnel, who doubtless came back from evenings in pubs ashore, stuffed with things they'd need to evacuate while their mates slept.

The accommodation is tiny, and the headroom (especially forward) very cramping. During my ownership, we found a sturdy bucket allowed relief in the saloon (or cockpit) rather than hunching into the V-berth area. Hunting for blockages in there, would be wretched.

It's not as if there's the slenderest possibility of privacy between the V-berth and saloon, so I'd strongly recommend keeping it simple and just giving the bucket-user the freedom of either the cabin or the cockpit, while others aboard occupy the other space.

We rigged a not-very-big, heavy-duty tarpaulin over the boom when berthed. It allowed airy lavatory relief in pretty good privacy.
