I have been looking at the endless list of various compression testers on ebay etc, but I cannot see how the various adaptors will fit and be able to be clamped down to make a nice seal.
Does not have to be top quality, as hopefully this is a one time deal.
Any ideas welcome

Thank you

May be worth getting a VP dealer to do it for you. They use a unit that actally records the pressures of the indvidual cylinders. You need to be very careful that you do not pull out the copper sleeve with the injector I believe

This is how I did mine (on an AD41).
Crude but it worked.

Brilliant thank you, that is just what I need.
I went to see my diesel guy today for a look see at his compression tester, quick look on fleaby and a 2nd hand kent moore unit is on its way to me, I am sure some skullduggery and fab work like you have done will be needed.

Can I ask why you were doing a compression test?

Following a big bang the engine was blowing exhaust smoke from vent and oil fill cap (when removed).
Compression test as part of dignostic exercise confirmed no compression in one of the cylinders.
Head off confirmed that cylinder had seized and then freed up.
Needed new piston and liner.................
