Has anybody got or used a Viva 700

Not the greatest of photos, but shows you where to pull, well at least that’s how ours lifts.

Hi, welcome to the viva owners club! We have owned ours for a week now and are really enjoying it. Excuse the terminology, I’m new to a lot of this. The keel on ours lifts with a black top directly above the cabin glass sliding door hatch. If you stand looking at the cabin hatch you will see it in the centre on the deck.
How do i reach the mechanism of the keel. The line broke a few months ago.

Hi, There are a couple of ways of accessing the line, is the boat afloat? We are just away at the moment, back early next week, guessing it’s not urgent as it’s been broken a few months. If you can wait until next week then I can find some pictures I’ve got and send them over to help with the explanation.

You are probably going to have to drop the whole mechanism out the bottom of the boat. Easy as it will drop out if you remove the nut and bolt through the keelbox. You will need about 3 feet clearance under the boat. The keel weighs 90kg so will need a way to support the weight as it comes down, or take the bolt out whilst on the ground and raise the boat. I used to do this with a couple of gantries and lifting gear whilst it was on the trailer.

Hi, it has been a while. Could you still send me some photos how to reach the mechanism of the swingkeel. I only can do it from the topside. Do I have to remove the table in the cabin??

Kind regards. Bas

Hi,
Where abouts are you? What exactly is the problem you are trying to fix? It is possible to replace the line from the top, you do have to remove the table and a fibreglass section that is screwed on, but it is extremely difficult feed everything through. Far easier underneath. Cheers Rob

I have this one. You can get to it via the under seat front hatch on the starboard side. It's a bit of a contortionist job. When you reinstate it it needs sealant as it is very close to the waterline.View attachment 186264

Hi. I'm from Holland. How "easy" would it be to do it from underneath? The boat is currently stored for the winter, but outside.. But because of the storage, I can't move the keel outward, just inward. It's halfway out at this moment. The only way to move the keel freely is when it would be hanging in a crane.

Hi Neil. 1question. To get the centreboard out and in. T he best way. Is it with the centreboard inwards or outwards? Imo inwards. It is only possible when the boat is lifted and hanging in the crane. That will be in April. Can't be done at this moment.

I rest the lower end on the ground with it half down and put a jack at the top end and lower it down on the jack. It slides down but beware as the end comes out the hull, you have to support it so it won't drop sideways. It's 90kg so very hard to mange. Really needs 2 people.

Thank you. I'll keep it in mind. I will do it with 3 guys minimum.

Fixed it yesterday. Wasn't as difficult as I thought. Thanks for the info.
