Hoping to get back over to Holland mid/end next week. Have not done direct crossing from Harwich. What is the best route? i make Harwich/Oostende about 75nm so it should be possible to arrive in daylight if we leave Harwich at 0500/0600.
Anyone else heading that way soon?

Any advice appreciated.

I think it depends on what slant on the wind you need and how long a leg you can be bothered to do. Our preferred crossing from Pye End is to Blankenberg which is hardly longer than to Ostend and doesn't involve crossing any troublesome banks or much shipping. There was plenty of water in the entrance two weeks ago as I think it had been dredged in the summer. We usually use it for our return leg, but the other way would be much the same.

Breskens is easy of course, and even the Roompot is possible without losing much sleep.

We make our way to Long Sand Head then set course for the West Hinder light - then skirt the tss to come into Oostende.

Yep that's what we do too.... or if the tide is favourable, we'll sometimes go via Cork Sands Yacht Beacon, then Rough Towers, and next waypoint is Oostende...

At the Belgian end, ignore the sandbanks unless you are arriving at LW Springs and there is a big sea running.... there is plenty of water to just head straight in.
