Shotley closer to open water. Access via lock (out of action last week). Walking distance to not v gd pub.

SYH direct all tide access - also on landside, no locked gates for cars. Lighthouse good for food, but only open weekends in winter, Long walk to other pubs.

The lock was closed for annual maintenance Max. Other than that, it's open and manned 24/7. Access is all states of tide, except very low water springs for deep draft vessels.
