I am considering taking my boat to Harty Ferry next weekend, then crewing on a friends gaffer in the Swale Match regatta.
It has been many years since I last visited Harty Ferry. What are the chances of finding a reasonably sheltered anchorage to leave a 1.8m deep yacht for a day and night?

There are usually free moorings at Harty, mostly on the S side, but none you could really leave your boat on for 24hrs unoccupied - but you infer that you will anchor and there's plenty of room to do that. Visitors do start turning up on Friday for the Swale Match so it can all start to look a bit crowded but there's always room to anchor somewhere.
South side is sheltered from S/SW winds but can be lumpy on the ebb in an easterly, when you may be better off on the N side. Weather is looking quiet so far for the weekend anyway.
It's really all much the same as your last visit, with the addition of more moorings probably, plus a hefty wreck in the deep water about 1/4mile W of the causeway, guarded by a N cardinal.

Thanks for the info. Of course, I could have looked this up in ECP for myself, but
[a], I never thought of it, &
my copy is on the boat.
I feel a plan developing. Swale Match for the weekend then on to Chatham Historic Dockyard.
I hope I will be safe in those Southern waters.
My Nan used to say that parts of Kent were "quite nice" when she went hopping.:)
