I agree with Fascadale no real issues, you should be able to manage in one go. Just bear in mind Hull has restricted opening so plan to arrive before or on high water otherwise you could be hanging around for a while. Coming up the Humber the first section is wide open but the channel then swings right across to Immingham, it seemed far closer to the big boys than I thought it should.
Thanks, Status. Useful advice about the nearness of the buoys. Definitely not teaching me to suck eggs. After being a small boat commercial fisherman (pots!) elsewhere I really value local knowledge. All information is gratefully received.
Dear Snadgey if you are going to be sailing about in that area there is a book called "Forth Tyne Dogger" or sililar which is a good guide,by Henry Irvine. Good luck Jerry
The salmon netting season opened a day or two ago and there may be one or two netters around. Look out for pot markers attached to surface drift nets and boats drifting with them. Most of the salmon netters fish Monday to Friday so a weekend trip should be safe. The netters tend to shoot up to 600m of net then drift with their boat’ bows facing the net. If unsure of whether there is a net, head towards the boat and ask.
Depending on the tide (and your draft), once you're near/past the bridge its best to stick strictly to the shipping channel as it shallows off extremely quickly outside of it.
