I have chartered a bareboat Harmony yacht in the Med, cant find much info about the brand, anybody got any experience of the boats? I took it in preference to a Bavaria, hope my choice was good!

I have chartered a Harmony 42 from Largs and was impressed with the performance (wing keel) - very quick boat and easily handled with no vices. The interior is a bit bland and functional but it was a charter boat.

Similar to beneteau's Cyclades range. Basic but sound and reasonably quick. Comfort level of most AWB standards. Fine for Med charter.

If I am not mistaken, they are built by an Italian company, Poncin.

The only one that I have ever seen was towed into Isle de Groix by a lifeboat.

Was on one once and all I can remember was that it had a huge kitchen type sink!

The cheapest and nastiest of the cheap and nasty boats. OK for a charter but don't buy one. I chartered a nearly new one in the med a few years ago and quite a few things were already falling off or broken. The chap, who had bought a job lot of them, had someone from the factory there for many weeks fixing things. Almost impossible to hoist the main on all of them for some reason.

Poncin are a French company believe. My lad used to be really excited about me buying a boat and naming it after him - if I bought a Poncin Diva 44 I could go around saying "Fred's a Poncin' Diva, you know"

Seems a bit harsh. Definitely an AWB but the ones I've seen have been OK, including a few in Charter. The 38 has better performance than I expected (or a better helmsman than me
